WELCOME TO HOLY FAMILY & OUR LADY OF FATIMA CATHOLIC CHURCHES

Our parishes are a faith community located in the beautiful northern Minnesota Lakes Region in Aitkin County. We are within the Duluth, MN Diocese (about 60 miles west of Duluth), the gateway to the great “up north” – and we love having visitors!

If you visit our area, please come and join us in worship - maybe you’ll even be there on a day when we have fresh coffee and caramel rolls after Mass!

During the winter months many of our parishioners “fly” South for the warmer climate – but many of us stay to enjoy our glorious winter beauty and fun in the snow sports. During summer months our numbers “swell” again as the “Snowbirds” return, along with the many friends and travelers to our beautiful and peaceful land of lakes and pines.

The goal of the site is to help you learn more about us, our faith, and the McGregor and McGrath areas.

Please visit us often to view updates!

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Video message from Bishop Daniel on healing and hope in Jesus:

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Greetings in the Lord! On Christmas Day 2022, I promulgated my Pastoral Letter, The Dawn from on High Shall Break Upon Us: Healing, Hope, and Joy in Jesus. The Pastoral Letter enlightens the Mission given to our Diocese by the Holy Spirit: As disciples of Jesus, we will intentionally help one another to grow closer to the healing, hope, and joy of Jesus, no matter where we are in the journey of faith.

The Pastoral Letter also identifies three Mission initiatives, each with its own emphasis. Presently, there is an emphasis on Healing. Over the past year, we have been encouraging people who are hurting to be healed through our healing ministries, sacraments, prayers, support groups, healing services, and relational reconciliations. There is convicting evidence that the Holy Spirit has been anointing so many in our diocese with the healing power we can only find in Jesus.

As we continued to heal the hurts in our personal lives, families, parishes, and the communities where we live, there is also evidence of an emerging sense of hope. As we experience the healing and hope we can only find in Jesus, we are beginning to embrace and embody the second mission emphasis of experiencing the healing and hope of Jesus in the Sacred Scriptures and Holy Eucharist (with an emphasis on Eucharistic Revival).

In my video presentation, I am calling us to continue our mission of healing (mission emphasis one), as well as leading people through the Scriptures and the Eucharist to the healing and hope (Paschal Mystery) that we can only experience in the Real Presence of Jesus (mission emphasis two).

I truly believe that the mission of bringing all people closer to the healing, hope, and joy of Jesus is entrusted to us by the Holy Spirit. I believe that the impact and fruition of blessings that we will receive as a result of bringing our mission alive will be bountiful — because in the end, our mission is not about us, but what the Holy Spirit wants to do in and though us, in the power of Jesus.

In the healing, hope and joy of Jesus,

Bishop Daniel J. Felton

For Readings of the Day: http://bible.usccb.org

Sunday, March 24 – Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord Collect:  Almighty ever-living God, who as an example of humility for the human race to follow caused our Savior to take flesh and submit to the Cross, graciously grant that we may heed his lesson of patient suffering and so merit a share in his Resurrection. Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.  Amen.

Monday, March 25 – Monday of Holy Week Collect:  Grant, we pray, almighty God, that, though in our weakness we fail, we may be revived through the Passion of your Only Begotten Son. Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.  Amen.

Tuesday, March 26 – Tuesday of Holy Week Collect:  Almighty ever-living God, grant us so to celebrate the mysteries of the Lord’s Passion that we may merit to receive your pardon. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.  Amen.

Wednesday, March 27 – Wednesday of Holy Week Collect:  O God, who willed your Son to submit for our sake to the yoke of the Cross, so that you might drive from us the power of the enemy, grant us, your servants, to attain the grace of the resurrection. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.  Amen.

Thursday, March 28 – Holy Thursday: Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper Collect:  O God, who have called us to participate in this most sacred Supper, in which your Only Begotten Son, when about to hand himself over to death, entrusted to the Church a sacrifice new for all eternity, the banquet of his love, grant, we pray, that we may draw from so great a mystery, the fullness of charity and of life. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.  Amen.

Friday, March 29 – Friday of the Passion of the Lord (Good Friday) Prayer:  Remember your mercies, O Lord, and with your eternal protection sanctify your servants, for whom Christ your Son, by the shedding of his Blood, established the Paschal Mystery. Who lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen.

Saturday, March 30 – Holy Saturday / Easter Vigil Collect:  O God, who make this most sacred night radiant with the glory of the Lord’s Resurrection, stir up in your Church a spirit of adoption, so that, renewed in body and mind, we may render you undivided service. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.  Amen.

Sunday, March 31 – Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord Collect:  O God, who on this day, through our Only Begotten Son, have conquered death and unlocked for us the path to eternity, grant, we pray, that we who keep the solemnity of the Lord’s Resurrection may, through the renewal brought by your Spirit, rise up in the light of life. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.  Amen.
